Wine

When in the middle of the last century grandfather Bartolomeo purchased a vineyard in Cannubi, he knew the wine would be exceptional : he had in his hands a perfect marriage of soil, aspect and microclimate. Today, a long-established friendship between his granddaughter , Raffaella Pittatore, and Virna Borgogno brings us the latest flowering of the original dream ; a virtuoso demonstration of wine-making: a gorgeous Barolo wine in whose perfume and flavor lies a story of passion and heritage.

The wine comes from a vineyard in Cannubi cru land in the heart of Barolo. It belonged to my grandfather Bartolomeo who around 50 years ago planted the Nebbiolo grapes.

the vineyards is 300 meters high in elevation and southeaster exposition, it receives full sun and wind as its on the top of a hill.

I produce 1200 bottles of wine and follow every step of the production.

Work is done by hand from pruning to harvesting.

We do not use synthesis products , and cut the grass with mechanical tools.

We try to give back elements to the soil with green manure that preserves also humidity

Sulfur and Copper are used during the season to combat illness.

Hand harvested grapes are destalked and soft pressed.

Traditional fermentation in stainless steel with skin contact with periodic punching down off the cap.

Fermentation lasts 15/20 days.

In November the wine is racked in second/third use Barrel fo 18/24 moths.

Vinification and aging of the wine take place in my dear friend Virna’s cellar. She is the one who support and follow me in every step.

You can ask for a glass of wine and taste it with a plate of typical products of the area.
